Welcome to Lucas Land

Imagination is at the heart of everything we do at The Lucas Studio, so when we were dreaming up a project which would represent the creativity of not just ourselves, but those that we work with, including some of our closest friends, the fantasy world of Lucas Land was born.

It all began with a box of cards, which we created to visualise the moments of joy in our work, and that of our friends, too. More than just a one-off project, we also wanted a digital world, a Land where everyone can join us on our adventures.

We have so much fun on every job, from the initial ideas to behind-the-scenes, we’d like to share more than just the final result, so welcome to Lucas Land, your destination for all things T.L.S.

A little more about Lucas Land…

This daydream Land was hand drawn by Emma Crawshay Jones, Jessica’s childhood best friend, with so much charm poured into every corner, it was love at first sight.

In Jessica and Emma’s early teenage years, Emma used to sit in class at school drawing weird and wonderful Lands, then give them to Jessica as a note or leave them in her locker, later telling her all about them. They were always incredibly beautiful and just a little bit bonkers, so we absolutely had to ask Emma to create our Land for us.

To have Emma’s drawing online and in our box of cards feels extra special. Emma knows Jessica better than almost anyone thanks to their long friendship, so, Lucas Land is the perfect representation of Jessica and The Lucas Studio’s personality.

Each element of the Land is charming, from strawberries as big as houses for all to enjoy to the ice machine running all day to keep the ices creams cold and roads lit by birthday candle light. Read Emma’s words, which take you on a tour of these details, at the end of this post.

We worked with Sophie Lewis of Ruth Kaye Design to make the Lucas Land box of cards a reality. Each card represents the magic of our world, or should we say Land… Filled with friends, memories and proud moments. Some of our favourite cards include:

The Sky’s The Limit

A photograph of spring blossom with an aeroplane shooting into the blue sky, by another friend of Jessica’s, Greg Bartlett. Taken on film, Greg gave it to Jessica as a gift following his exhibition in Peckham in 2021. This had to be our lead image as it’s so uplifting.

The Cloud of 5,000 Roses

The iconic rose cloud created for a self-confessed ‘rose fiend’ of a bride from 5,000 beautiful roses. Discover more about this miraculous cloud here.

The Aligator Parade

These cheerful, party-going ‘gators were designed by us and illustrated by Lucy Crosthwaite to give a chic London wedding a lot of personality.

Lift the lid on your own Lucas Land box of cards available to buy soon, and stay tuned right here for more stories from the wonderful world of Lucas Land.

In the meantime, see what you can find in our fantasy world. (Clues below in Emma’s words).
